Then, based on this analysis, a daily nutrition supplement regimen is suggested based on your area of highest need and which products best fit those needs.

Feeling Stressed? Part 2
Feeling
Stressed? Part 2
Did you know
that when our bodies are undergoing a lot of stress it can deplete us of vital
nutrients such as our B Vitamins and Vitamin C? This explains why we feel
fatigued, exhausted, have muscle tension and our immune system is weak.
Here are some
more Nutritional suggestions:
Vitamin B Complex
Vitamin B acts as an important chemical
called the co enzyme in numerous metabolic reactions in the body. Niacin, a B
complex vitamin is necessary for Tryptophan metabolism which is a precursor of
Serotonin. Serotonin is a neuro transmitter which keeps the mind calm.
Pyridoxine and Vitamin B12 are necessary for the integrity of nerves.
Pantothenic acid which is a B complex vitamin plays an important role in stress
relief.
Pantothenic acid (B5) promotes proper
neurotransmitter activity in the brain. Pantothenic acid is also known as the
anti-stress vitamin because it detoxifies brain tissue, helps relieve physical
and emotional stress, and promotes the secretion of hormones essential for
optimal health.
“ Vitamin B-12
and other B vitamins play a role in producing brain chemicals that affect mood
and other brain functions. Low levels of B-12 and other B vitamins such as
vitamin B-6 and folate may be linked to depression.” -Daniel
K. Hall-Flavin, M.D.
Isotonix® Activated B-Complex- The most
powerful absorption you can find on the market.
“Vitamin C is a well-known immune system booster, but did you know it also affects the adrenal glands in a big way? Vitamin C is a major player in how stress affects the body, and if you’re feeling stressed out, you need more Vitamin C to meet the demand.
Here’s the problem. If you are getting what you consider is enough Vitamin C, you should be fine. If you become stressed, you need more Vitamin C. If you don’t take that Vitamin C, your adrenal glands will be depleted of this necessary vitamin. This registers in the body as a new stress factor and, well, I’m sure you can see the circular pattern this creates…an never-ending cycle of stress and Vitamin C depletion.
This also explains why stress opens you up to more illness.” -From Dr. Oz Belly Fat Cure

Feeling Stressed? Part. 1
Feeling Stressed? Part. 1
Stress affects all of us one way or another. Here are some useful tips to try whether we are going through constant stress, or occasional. If we take care of our bodies, we will be more balanced and it will help us cope and manage stressful situations.
Aromatherapy Massage
For a wonderful, relaxing experience, get anAromatherapy massage. In order to gain full benefit, you need to be ready to relax and let go. There is a great deal of evidence that the state of the mind and nervous system is reflected in the state of the musculature.
Massage and The Nervous System
Stimulates Nervous System = boosting energy
· Calms the Nervous System = relaxing
-- Massage may have a sedative, stimulating or an exhausting effect on thenervous system depending on the type and length of massage treatment given
· Relieves restlessness and insomnia
· Relieves pain due to pinched nerves
· Decreases chronic pain
· Stimulates the release of endorphins (the body's naturalpainkiller)
Use massage as another health care tool
Brush aside any thoughts that massage is only a feel-good way to indulge or pamper yourself. To the contrary, massage can be a powerful tool to help you take charge of your health and well-being, whether you have a specific health condition or are just looking for a great stress reliever.

Aromatherapymassage is especially powerful because it is good for stress as the Pure Essential Oils stimulate our Limbic system, the part of our brain that controls emotions, memories, thenervous system and hormones. Also the oils are absorbed through the skin, enhancing the benefits at a more physical level (pain relief, increased circulation,ect.). http://www.healingfeelsgood.com/

Massage & Nutrition for the Active
Massage for athletes
and active individuals can assist your body with recuperation for injury as
well as preventing them. Massage therapy can help
reduce the pain from recovering injuries or tight areas of muscle. It also
promotes the proper healing of scar tissue and provides a soothing effect to
any injured areas.
Many of my active clients put themselves on a wellness regimen of massage for preventative care and balance 1x/month. Not only can we catch muscle imbalances on time but we can also treat them before they lead to an injury. This also assists the body with the stresses of physical performance, thus boosting performance level. It gives us time to relax and recuperate.

A very important factor for athletic performance is
nutrition. Within our diets, many times we are not provided with the nutrients
our bodies need; especially with the active individuals. Those who exercise a
lot and stay active need that extra
fuel to keep going.
This is one of my favorite formulations. I take it
myself, as being a massage therapist is a very physical job. It gives you
sustained energy throughout the day providing your body with the nutrients it
need at maximum absorption.

- Helps reduce muscle fatigue
- Supports bone health
- Provides antioxidant protection to minimize the effects of free radicals
- Contains activated forms of select B vitamins to ensure optimal utilization by the body

Cold & Flu Season...natural remedies
It is here…cold and flu season. Now what do we do?!
There are definitely ways to
get it before it gets us and also natural ways to support our bodies in
fighting us in the cases when it does get us.
Here are some recommendations that I personally
use myself and for my clients:
In
1 teaspoon of Carrier Oil (eg. coconut-fractionated almond, olive) add 5 drops
of Shield Synergy
Blend (Basil, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Ginger, Lavender, Lemon, Orange,
Peppermint, & Ravensara)
http://www.fernandasantiago.com/synergy-blends/
and use as a chest and back rub. This oil is warming and feels great when
applied. Just make sure you dilute it, as it is concentrated.
Sheild is a great wellness formula that supports
the respiratory tract, boost the immune system, has anti-viral effects and its uplifting
of mood and energy levels, helps with
body aches and much more!
It is also great to add to a diffuser or a
spray bottle to kill air pathogens.
Another excellent oil to add to your box is Clove Bud Essential
Oil. It has the highest anti-oxidant capability of any essential oil! Its
primary natural chemical component is eugenol.
Now what does this mean?
What
it means is that it is highly anti-bacterial,
pain relieving, warming.
The essential oils of Clove &
Rosemary have been tested in studies and possessed significant antimicrobial effects against Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli,
Candida albicans, and tuberculosis bacillus.
You
may try diluting 2 drops of clove Bud Essential Oil in 1 teaspoon of carrier oil
and massage lightly around the neck to help support the lymphatic nodes during
a cold/flu.
You can find clove oils at:
Let
us not forget that everything starts from within, so we have to make our bodies
well from the inside. These are some of my favorite supplements to have on hand,
not only to treat flu, but can be taken year round to keep our immune system
strong to fight anything in our way:
Isotonix® Vitamin C
You
can find it at: http://www.shop.com/fsantiago/561800360-p+260.xhtml?vid=214196
Isotonix® OPC-3®
Isotonix OPC-3® is an isotonic-capable food
supplement that is made from a combination of bilberry, grape seed, red wine
and pine bark extracts, and citrus extract bioflavonoids, all found to be
powerful antioxidants. The most powerful
antioxidants available!
Ultimate Aloe® Juice
Supports
a strong immune system!
There
you have it everyone. These are great ways to help your body from the inside
and out during cold & flu season. I will be happy to answer any questions
or comments you may have.
